Well... Good Morning! Yeah morning at 1 in the afternoon... she's just managed to open her eyes and her first itch was to write somethin... So here she is.. (Has it passed? Umm.... dunno... might just relapse all over again.. can't really say!)
First up: A very 'Happy Women's Day' to all us beautiful women out there.. Yes we are all beautiful! Its crazy the amount of women who automatically count themselves out when the word 'beautiful' is attached as a qualifier! C'mon sweethearts.... Loreal says it best, 'Because you're worth it!'
Well here's the reason it's celebrated: "It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women. Started as a political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries. In some celebrations, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their sympathy and love to the women around them - somewhat similar to Western Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day mixed together. In others, however, the political and human rights theme as designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. Men and women attended rallies calling for women to be allowed to vote, hold public office, and enjoy equal opportunities in the workforce. Today, IWD rallies, lectures and sporting events will take place all over the world. In some countries, today is the beginning of International Women's Week; in the US, it kicks off International Women's Month." (Source: Answers and Wiki)
And then her cell phone rings and the first message of the day is Mommy Dearest - "Life laughs at you when you are unhappy... Life smiles at you when you are happy... Life salutes you when you make others happy. Cheers to us women! We light up a lot of lives! Happy Women's day!" (Isn't she the best?)
And then "Sure God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece." :-)
